Our prospects for season 2024/25 received a boost when we welcomed another young Scot to the Dandenong Club last week ! Aaron Betts joined us on the afternoon of Monday 23rd, Sept and wasted no time getting onto the green, ready to make this place his home for the summer. He’s not just here to bowl in our pennant teams; he’ll also be working at the Club.
Aaron is set to represent us in the $250,000 UBC competition alongside our very own Australian and BPL star Sammy Atkinson. They’ll be joined by Jack Mc Shane, another young talent making waves as an Australian Indoor title holder.
Despite being only 20, Aaron has big dreams of representing Scotland at the Commonwealth Games – and with his impressive list of achievements already, he’s definitely one to watch! Many on Bowls International social media channels are tipping him as both a current and future star of Scottish bowls.
Aaron’s journey started early; by age 14, he had already clinched Under 13, Under 17, and Under 25 singles titles at East Lothian. His standout performance was against Joe Mower in the final of the Under 25 singles where he won with an astonishing scoreline of 21-4 in just 12 ends.
His accolades don’t stop there – national indoor Under 17 triples and fours titles, Under 18 singles crown, Bowls Scotland Under 17 pairs – you name it! In fact, in 2024 he represented Scotland at the Bowls Europe Championships and brought home bronze in the singles.
