Winter 8’s Thursday Night Comp

Winter 8’s is all about bringing together bowlers who love the team spirit of bowls. It’s a brilliant way to enjoy the sport with your mates on chilly Thursday nights. Here’s the deal: you’ll need eight players for your team, and you’ll be playing two matches at the same time on two different rinks. It’s a fun, fast-paced format that keeps everyone involved. Winter 8’s is a great way to stay active and social during the colder months. So why not gather your friends and give it a go? We’re all about making bowls accessible and enjoyable for everyone!

Overview

  • Competition will be played as a two bowl fours event over a 7-week season. Teams will play each other once.
  • 8 teams of 8 players.
  • Teams of 8 players (2×4 player rinks).
  • Entry fee per game per player $10.00.
  • $40.00 payable per team via your captain or appointee – must be paid before the first game.
  • Matches will be 16 ends.
  • No dead ends, jacks will be spotted on the 2 Metre “T”.
  • No jack rolling. The jack and mat will be placed however one of either the jack or the mat must start on the T.
  • No rollup however players may practice prior to play.
  • 2 points will be awarded for each rink win and 10 points for a match win.
  • A match win will be determined by the accumulative score of teams 2 rinks.
  • The team that finishes on top of the ladder at the end of the competition will be deemed as the winner.
  • Players may change their playing positions at any time at the completion of an end, within their own rink.
  • There will be no interchanging within rinks each round.
  • Players must restrict their movement to the head. Players 1,2,3 may not visit the head until the competition of their 2nd bowl.
  • Skipper must start the end at the head end.
  • Captains must exchange cards for rink match ups before the start of play.
  • Dandenong Club Bowls Operations Manager will have the final decision on any disputes during the running of this tournament.
  • Bar/Café open with meals available from 5:30pm. (current restrictions may affect this, please check with us)

What are the Prizes?

Teams on top of the ladder after round seven wins $1600.00.

Runner Up gets $800

Third place gets $400

Who’s eligible

Any player registered with the competing club in Bowlslink is eligible to play in any team.

After the completion of round five, only players who have played at least one match in the first five rounds of matches are eligible to compete in rounds six, and round seven. An exemption may be sought from the Dandenong Club Bowls Coordinator and granted only under extreme circumstances.

Disputes

Any appeals or disputes shall be resolved at the sole discretion of the Dandenong Club Bowls Co-Ordinator
