Now the excitement levels begin to grow
Sammy Atkinson found her way back to the Gold Coast today after a couple of days of R&R on The Sunshine Coast. She made a big impression.
Her three wins and 41 shots up rocketed her to the Knockout rounds and a match-up with Australian rep Kristina Kristic on Saturday at Paradise Point. Melbourne Pulse’s Ellen Fife was another big winner and will also be at Paradise Point. Nics McKenzie had a solid day with three good wins. She will play at Beenleigh.
The Men
The men were up and about in the Fours Sectionals. It was good to see ex-Club coach Rob Wilson join Anthony Lee, Ray Arnold, and Kris Paine to win their way to the knockout rounds tomorrow(Friday). They are joined by our other Club Fours combination of Wombat, Shane Carter, Matty Arnold, and Scott Guymer. Their two wins and a draw got them, though too. The teams that contained Paul Meyers and Brenton McKenzie missed out.
Tomorrow
The men’s fours continue, together with the Barrie Lester, Gary Kelly and Sean Ingham teams.
The women’s fours kick off with every highly regarded team of Nics and Sammy combined with Richmond Union teammates Trish Cullinane and Tris Doolan. Dandenong Club’s “bowls fanatic” Annette McCormack joins Irene Attard, M Hunt and Sophie Jing.
