The Dandenong Club bids a fond farewell to two outstanding Scottish internationals, John Fleming and Blair Davidson. Their contributions to the club’s success have been nothing short of remarkable, leaving a lasting impact on and off the field.
Throughout the season, John and Blair showcased their talent and dedication, representing the club in various prestigious competitions. John earned a spot in the UBC team at Moama, while both players proudly participated in the renowned Warilla 4-a-side event.
Their skillful play and teamwork led to victories at events like the Somerville Triples, Glen Waverley Mixed Triples, and Lavington Fours. Additionally, they claimed the title of Pairs Champions at the Dandenong Club, a testament to their exceptional chemistry on the greens.
Blair’s accomplishments also extended to the DC 12,000, where he, along with Ray Arnold, emerged victorious, showcasing their prowess in high-stakes competitions.
Beyond their accomplishments on the bowling green, John and Blair also contributed significantly to the club’s growth and camaraderie. John’s innovative concept of the DC 4-a-side and the introduction of two weekly short-form competitions brought fresh excitement to the sport. Meanwhile, Blair ran the Club’s Jack Attack competition, fostering a welcoming environment for new players.
Their impact extended to the Division One teams, where they successfully led their respective rinks to victory. As ambassadors for both the club and their homeland, they brought pride and sportsmanship to every match they played.
