This weekend, many of the best bowlers in the state gathered to attempt to win their way to the national Finals of the Australian Indoor Titles. Dandenong Club was well represented, with eight men and two women contesting events at venues around Melbourne.
At Dandenong Club, two complete fields on Saturday of 48 players were narrowed down to just 16 players for Sunday’s knock-out rounds. By 3.00 pm, just four players were left, with Matty O’Brien from Moonee Valley taking on Scott Rees from MCC and former Dandenong player Michael Stevenson up for the challenge of tackling Craig Bryant from Heathmont.
The eventual winners were Matty O’Brien and Michael Stevenson, who will both travel to Tweed Heads in August to challenge for the Men’s title. On the women’s side of the event, Dandenong Club’s recruit Sammy Atkinson is already qualified and looking for back-to-back victories.

Coming up at Dandenong Club is the playoff for the Victorian Indoor Title on Saturday, July 27, when the winners from each of the various state events will play off in a knockout round of knockout matches.
