The Dandenong Club Board last week approved a proposal to stage a $250,000 UBC event at Dandeneing Club in 2022.  The UBC involves up to 30 teams with representation from all around the world. It commenced it 2019 with Dandenong Club taking the first year of competition by storm, winning over $160,000 in prize money and taking out the inaugural event as well as the Ultimate team of the year award.

Gary Kelly, Barrie Lester and Wayne Turley, each commonwealth games medalists form the backbone of the team that is coached my Danadneing Club Coach Rob Wilson

In announcing a change to the format and Dandenong Club as a new host club,  The UBC’s CEO Mark Casey stated,

“From 2022, we have decided to increase the number of events each year to four, but lower the time commitment of teams and players down to two weeks instead of three events. This will mean we will have two events each week making for a big, action packed week of great bowls. It’s clear that this will help team owners lower some expenses on flights for players, as well as the expense for team owners and managers to attend the events. Also, we had to take into account the players. The bowls calendar is now insanely busy for most of the players that compete in the UBC, and it sounds like it’s only going to get worse as we lead into another Commonwealth Games period”

The Warilla Bowls & Recreation Club and the Deer Park Club will be hosts of our two Ultimate Bowls Weeks in 2021.

For the 2022 season, we would like to welcome a new host venue, The Dandenong Club as part of our host venue “family”. The Dandenong Club has supported the UBC as a team owner from the outset, and have always shown a keenness to support the competition as a host when the opportunity arose. They will host one of our events, as well as one of our brilliant existing hosts Moama Bowling Club as our venues for 2022. We will need to rotate back to Warilla and Deer Park the following year and so on.

All four host venues will receive incredible global exposure through our broadcast package and social media channels which have just increased this week with confirmation that all our events will be televised LIVE on TV.

We look forward to working with you all to ensure we keep growing our relationship into the future.”
